About

Welcome,

I am many things, a marathon runner, a cyclist, a bikram yogi, a snowboarder, an artist, a hairstylist… and now a knitter. Although, I knitted sporadically throughout my childhood, I only became a true knitter in September of 2011. It all started when I stumbled upon a chic yarn boutique in Williamsburg, Va, called Knitting Sisters.

Since then, I have explored a couple local yarn shops in my area, and have become a total, “yarn snob,” guilty of having an obsession with high quality yarn. I love natural fibers such as merino wool, alpaca, cashmere, mohair, angora, silk, cotton, and linen.

In many ways I find the art of knitting similar to my profession, hairstyling. Both, satisfies my passion, for texture and color, it allows me to build a shape. And, although, knitting is an expensive addiction, it is worth the expense, because it not only relieves stress, but also brings me peace.

I did not call this blog Yarn Snob, or Knit Purl, but rather Cashmere & Silk. Why? Because natural fibers Cashmere and Silk can be defined in many ways, and so can this blog. With that being said, you may see some fashion and art as well as knitting and yarn.

In the end, this is my first blog, and my hope is that Cashmere & Silk will become a creative outlet for me to organize and record my progress as a knitter. With words and photos, my ultimate goal is to share, and expose what a simple skein of yarn is capable of becoming.

Thanks for visiting. Be inspired. Find enjoyment. Happy Knitting.
